Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has praised Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa for being an example Nigerian Diaspora and an excellent mentor to Nigerian youngsters.
Speaking while greeting the football player and his delegation in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa remarked that the player has fulfilled the duty of being a good ambassador, remembering the nation, and succeeding in the art of football.
She stated that Ahmed Musa received the Commission’s first National Diaspora Merit Award in the sports category for his charitable efforts and mentorship of youngsters.
“We are very proud of you as a Great Soccer Ambassador, Philanthropist and mentor of our younger ones with the building of sports academy in Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Plateau
“I have always been saying that success is about how many lives you have touched and Ahmed Musa here has done so much for humanity,” she said.
Dabiri-Erewa reiterated her congratulations to the whole Super Eagles squad for finishing second in the just completed AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.
The overjoyed Ahmed Musa responded by thanking the NiDCOM Chairman for the great gift and for all of her support for the Diaspora, particularly during the Sudan issue.
Musa spoke in an emotive tone about his modest beginnings, which inspired him to help the less fortunate around the country.
Musa stated that he hoped to inspire people with his narrative, particularly those who had previously looked down on players.
He promised Nigerians that, in addition to other initiatives, he intends to open a school in his hometown of Kano and then spread to other states in Nigeria in the future.
