Maverick singer Charles Oputa, better known by his stage as Charly Boy, has threatened to file for divorce from his 47-year marriage in the event that US Vice President Kamala Harris loses the forthcoming presidential election.

According to news reports, President Joe Biden resigned from his position as the Democratic Party nominee on Sunday and nominated Kamala Harris, his vice president, to lead the party.

Charly Boy responded via his X handle, stating that America should have the first Black female president following Barack Obama, the country’s first Black male president.

If Kamala Harris, whom he called his “crush,” doesn’t win the election, he pledged to divorce his wife.

In Pidgin, he wrote: “If dis my crush, Kamala Harris no win the USA presidential election, I swear, I go divorce my wife of 47yrs.

“After the first Black Male President, America deserves the first Black Female President.

“Sorry rednecks. Dats how we Roll.”

Despite Biden’s endorsement, Kamala Harris has not yet been formally nominated as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

She has so far earned more than 25% of the delegates required to win the Democratic presidential nomination, according to The Hill.
