On Tuesday, July 30, Donald Trump blasted Meta and Google for supposedly blocking searches linked to his abortive attempt and asked his fans to “go after” the tech companies.
In addition to calling the assassination attempt “fictional,” Facebook—which is owned by Meta—banned the image of Trump raising his fist following the shooting, and Google’s search bar failed to display any results regarding the incident in its dropdown window. These were just a few of the incidents that the Republican presidential candidate took issue with.
After being contacted by The Post, both companies refuted any bias and claimed they had made unintentional mistakes instead.
Trump, however, did not accept their justifications and addressed the issue on Truth Social, his own social media platform.
Trump stated: “Facebook has just admitted that it wrongly censored the Trump ‘attempted assassination photo,’ and got caught. Same thing for Google.
“They made it virtually impossible to find pictures or anything about this heinous act. Both are facing BIG BACKLASH OVER CENSORSHIP CLAIMS.”
He added, “Here we go again, another attempt at RIGGING THE ELECTION!!! GO AFTER META AND GOOGLE. LET THEM KNOW WE ARE ALL WISE TO THEM, WILL BE MUCH TOUGHER THIS TIME. MAGA2024!”
