Tinubu hands the Edo Gov candidate and running partner the APC flag

At the state house, President Bola Tinubu gave the flag of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, to Dennis Idahosa, his running partner in the Edo State gubernatorial election on September 21.

The President voiced hope for the APC’s election win while presenting the party flag.

The president, who expressed gratitude to the party’s state leadership for helping to resolve the internal problem that resulted in the rise of the candidate and his running mate, feels that his party will now have the advantage in the upcoming election.

Controversy surrounded the primary election that Okpebholo won and became a candidate.

The party’s governorship ticket was claimed by the trio of Okpebholo, Idahosa, and Dekeri in the first round of voting.

As a result of a number of anomalies, the National Working Committee of the party deemed the exercise to be unresolvable.

In the end, Okpebholo won the rerun on February 23 with 12,433 votes.
