Through his palliative measures, President Tinubu has been criticized by Afe Babalola, who claims he is making Nigerians into beggars

Nigeria’s Senior Advocate, Afe Babalola, has expressed his displeasure with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, claiming that by creating an atmosphere in which the government constantly gives out freebies, it has turned hard-working Nigerians into beggars. According to Babalola, these temporary fixes do little more than prolong poverty and make Nigerians dependent on the President in order to survive.

He said these things to the Prestige Sisters League, who had gone to his university in Ado-Ekiti to express their gratitude. Babalola took the chance to discuss the ongoing hunger strikes and reiterate that the administration ought to treat the problems seriously.

According to Babalola, the government’s palliative distribution of staple goods like rice, beans, and gari just made poverty worse and prevented people from becoming self-sufficient. He emphasised that it is the government’s responsibility to provide an environment that enables individuals to work and support themselves.

Babalola agreed with The Patriots’ demand for a new Constitution, but he disagreed with the idea of holding another constitutional conference. He proposed that the 1963 Constitution, which he thinks provides a solid foundation for Nigerian governance, be simply reenacted by the National Assembly.
