The Nine Permanent Secretaries for the Administration of the Federal Capital Territory are scheduled to be appointed – Nyesom Wike

Everything is ready for the appointment of nine Permanent Secretaries for the nine Secretariats of the FCT Administration, according to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

After examining some road projects, Wike made this announcement on Monday in Abuja while answering questions from the media.

He clarified that the action was in compliance with the FCT Civil Service Commission Act, 2018’s provisions, the execution of which President Bola Tinubu had authorized.

According to him, the President’s choice fulfilled his “Renewed Hope Agenda”.

The minister announced that the most senior FCTA directors will be named as permanent secretary for the secretariats of Public Private Partnership, Agriculture, Transportation and Economic Planning, and Revenue Generation.

The rest are Women Affairs, Health and Environment, Area Council, Social Development, Education, and Legal Services.

He went on to say that he had briefed all of the FCTA’s top directors about the development and given them assignments on duty devotion.

He said “President Tinubu in his wisdom and Renewed Hope Agenda, insisted that the 2018 Act must be implemented, which has given the FCT a Civil Service Commission.

“By this, the FCTA will have its own Head of Service, and then of course, it will have permanent secretaries for the nine secretariats.

“But again, that means that we will require a lot of commitments from them.”

Wike lamented the delays in file transfers and cautioned the directors not to allow any further delays as this would undermine the administration’s efforts.

He said “So, it is better to let them know that if the President has done this for you, you should also be able to reciprocate by committing yourself to work harder.

“We have told them that no file will stay in a director’s office for more than three to four days, so that the work can move on, and they have agreed to that.”
