The Man United star Antony’s police case “is still ongoing” in response to claims of domestic violence made against the striker from Brazil

According to reports, a police investigation into Man United player Antony is still underway. Last year, the Brazilian forward’s ex-girlfriend filed accusations of domestic violence.

Former lover Gabriela Cavallin accused Antony of abusing her, saying he had attacked her four times, one in June 2022 when she was pregnant.

The athlete has refuted all of the accusations, including one made by Ingrid Lana, a 33-year-old banker, who made a similar claim. Rayssa de Freitas, the third accuser, is said to have withdrawn her claim.

United granted him a time of leave from the team in September so that he could respond to the allegations. He had also been left off of the Brazil squad while on international duty.

Following his voluntary attendance at an interview with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) upon his return to the UK on September 28, the club stated that he will be returning to first-team training.

According to the Athletic, GMP has now acknowledged that an inquiry into the player—who cost United £85 million when he transferred from Ajax in 2022—is still underway.

The United team pledged to keep the matter “under review pending further developments in this case” when he returned to the team in September.

A statement was made.: ‘Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has cooperated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.

‘As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

‘As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.’

At that moment, manager Erik ten Hag stated: ‘Everything has been made clear in the statement,’ he said. ‘We will focus on the games. He will do as well.
