Shettima has launched a national road safety advisory council, committing to promoting safer roads

In order to bring Nigeria’s members in line with international best practices for lowering traffic crashes, Vice President Kashim Shettima officially established the National Road Safety Advisory Council (NaRSAC). In order to accomplish common goals for road safety, the council is entrusted with establishing targets for the National Road Safety Strategy and making sure that federal, state, and municipal governments work together effectively. Shettima underlined how important road safety is, saying that it is not only an issue of policy but also an essential component of the thread that binds Nigerians together. He also commended the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) dedication to tackling the problems associated with road traffic in the country.

The World Bank Country Capacity Review, which pointed out areas where Nigeria’s road traffic administration and safety management needed to improve, made suggestions that are in line with the creation of NaRSAC. Shettima asked Shehu Mohammed, the FRSC Corps Marshal, to accept these suggestions as a spur for changes in this industry. The Vice President expressed appreciation for the smooth cooperation between federal, state, and local executives as well as government agencies, saying that this sense of togetherness perfectly captures the idea of cooperating for the common good.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to improve administrative capabilities among government agencies is consistent with the effort. Shettima is optimistic that this intervention would improve Nigeria’s transport infrastructure and support long-term, steady economic growth. Six governors, the ministers of transport, works, health, justice, education, finance, environment, police affairs, interior, budget and economic planning, FCT, information, labour & productivity, and other members make up the NaRSAC, which is chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
