Actress and Big Brother Naija reality star Bamike Olawunmi, also referred to as Bambam, has called the problem of “sex for roles” in the Nigerian film industry a scam.
She said that after having sex with too eager young actresses, producers would frequently break their promises to provide them important roles.
In an interview for the most recent edition of the podcast Secrets Behind the Scenes, Bambam recounted how a producer had given her the keys to his hotel room in exchange for a cameo appearance.
She emphasized that “sex for roles” is not worth it and warned budding actors to avoid falling for it.
“Sex for roles is a scam. It’s not worth it. Some of them [victims] what they are paying them at the end of that production is not more than N50,000, N100,000. Don’t be deceived o! It’s a lie. It [sex for role] is a scam,” she said.
She added “The one that I did waka pass that dem give me N5,000 and the filmmaker was giving me his hotel room key to hold. Ah! I don’t want to mention names.”
