Selena Gomez, a US actress and singer, revealed her preparations for the upcoming Spanish musical “Emilia Pérez,” stating she took a vacation from music and other activities to prepare for her role.
Gomez participated in a Q&A session with the remaining cast members of Emilia Perez at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2024.
She said “I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher.”
The 32-year-old singer portrayed Jessi Del Monte in Netflix’s new musical, which she described as “therapy.” The French film, starring Zoe Saldaña, defies genres and expectations, and was unveiled as the first trailer for the Spanish-language film on August 26.
