Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has explained why, as a young academy player, he turned down the chance to snap a photo with club legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a recent interview with Players Tribune, Rashford stated that he was certain he would eventually share a changing room with the club heroes, hence he had no desire in taking selfies next to them.
On February 25, 2016, Rashford made his well-known Man United senior squad debut. He took advantage of the occasion by scoring twice that day.
After playing with the two legendary United players, Rashford is now one of the Red Devils’ most seasoned players after eight years with the team. From his first-team debut, the England forward has participated in 391 games and scored 128 goals.
“Wazza[Rooney] and Cristiano came by to do something with all the academy lads, and I was just looking at them in awe,” he told Players Tribune
“I remember my brother saying, ‘Go take a picture with Wazza, bro! What are you doing?’
“I said, ‘I don’t need a picture. … I’m going to be playing alongside them some day.”
