Amidst the continuing turmoil in the Labour Party (LP), a Nigerian cyber security specialist living in South Africa, Charles Awuzie, stated on Wednesday that the suspended party Treasurer, Mrs Oluchi Oparah, may be telling the truth.
Awuzie, who backed the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, expressed great sadness.
She also requested that Abure account for party monies exceeding N3.5 billion, which were raised for the 2023 general election through the selling of forms and other means.
According to her, the chairman has so far refused all requests to release the party’s books for inspection since the sale of expressions of interest and nomination forms ended.
In reaction to the charges, the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) imposed a six-month suspension on Oparah.
However, Awuzie claimed on his Facebook page that the suspended Treasurer may be telling the truth.
He said “As one of those who helped mobilize resources for the Labour Party, I’m deeply sad to read this.
“Dear Obidients, protect the TREASURER of the Labour Party, Oluchi Oparah at all cost.
“She’s speaking the truth.
“At this point, I am filled with deep disappointment. Does it mean that we can’t ever get politics right in this country?”
