President Bola Tinubu expressed shock and great grief over the deaths of Herbert Wigwe, a leading banker and entrepreneur, and Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, as well as Wigwe family members.
The President’s sympathy statement came after formal confirmation from appropriate agencies.
Herbert Wigwe was the founder of the How Foundation and the CEO of Access Holdings Plc.
Tinubu, in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, characterized Wigwe and Ogunbajo as remarkable Nigerian business leaders, and their departure is “an overwhelming tragedy that is shocking beyond comprehension.”
He condoled with the Wigwe and Ogunbanjo families, the business community, and all those impacted by this harrowing incident.
“I pray for the peaceful repose of the departed and asks God Almighty to comfort the multitude of Nigerians who are grieving and the families of the deceased at this deeply agonizing moment,” Tinubu said in the condolence message.
