The former midfielder for Manchester United, Paul Pogba, expressed his wish to leave the team in 2019 because of the team’s slow progress towards success. Six years after returning to Old Trafford with a record £89 million fee, the Frenchman left for free in 2022. Pogba feels that his finest season at United was the 2018–19 campaign, when he was the team’s top scorer. Despite the excitement surrounding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s take over as manager following Jose Mourinho’s departure, Pogba still wanted to leave the team.
Pogba disclosed that he had discussed his plans to leave the team with Ed Woodward and Ole following the most recent game in an exclusive conversation with Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel. He added that he had to act professionally and disclosed that he had sustained an injury throughout the season.
After joining Juventus, Pogba struggled with injuries and played in just 12 games before failing a drugs test in August 2023. He was handed a four-year football suspension in February following his failure to pass a drug test in August 2023. But following an appeal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport shortened his suspension to 18 months, allowing him to return to action in March 2025 with permission to begin training in January.
