Osimhen begs Nigerians to stop cyberbullying Iwobi, citing his mental health.

Following Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations loss to Ivory Coast, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has urged fans to stop abusing teammate Alex Iwobi.

Following the Super Eagles’ defeat against Ivory Coast, several supporters made derogatory comments about Iwobi’s performance in the game.

Iwobi, who is currently a Premier League player for Fulham, admitted to forsaking social media following the AFCON final due to hostility.

Later, several unsubstantiated allegations circulated online, indicating that the former Arsenal star was considering terminating his international career.

Osimhen, on the other hand, has now stated his support for Iwobi and encouraged the bullies to take Iwobi’s mental health into account, stating that football players are merely humans who make errors.

On Tuesday in Abuja, the Napoli star stated, “I urge Nigerians that cyberbullying is bad because we are also humans.”

“Mistakes happen to us sometimes. On occasion, when we play well, we will experience the excitement. Naturally, nevertheless, constructive criticism must be used in these kinds of situations.

To be fair, I believe that what they did to Alex Iwobi was horrible and unbelievable. His mental health ought to be examined as well, as some of us may take this personally and continue working hard.

And some of us let it go to our heads, losing our form and our attention in the process. I believe that we are uniting behind him. Both individually and collectively, we have spoken with him
