Northern coordinators withdrawn from the planned October 1 nationwide protest

Northern coordinators of the #EndBadGovernance protest have withdrawn from the planned October 1 nationwide protest in 19 northern states due to insufficient security measures.

The decision was made after national organizers failed to resolve issues surrounding safeguarding protesters and preventing hoodlums from hijacking the process. The coordinators, Abdullahi Daura and Mohammed Musa Biu, expressed apprehension about a repeat of violence in Kano, Kaduna, and other parts of the north and urged members to obey directives and withdraw until security agencies provide clearance.

They emphasized that the lives and property of innocent citizens mattered more than anything, and they urged members to remain calm and peaceful during the October 1 Independence Day celebration across the North.

The coordinators reassured Nigerians about their resolve to pressure the federal government to reverse unfriendly policies that have caused hardship but stressed the importance of protecting innocent citizens’ lives and property.
