McKenna has dismissed rumors of Phillips loan termination

The manager of Ipswich, Kieran McKenna, has called reports that Kalvin Phillips’ loan agreement would end in January “absolute nonsense.”

According to sources, the Tractor Boys were thinking of sending Phillips back to City before the end of his summer loan. Following the 4–3 loss against Brentford, McKenna brushed the rumors aside, calling them “proper, proper nonsense.”

Additionally, he said that Phillips had a really excellent game and commended his play in the loss. McKenna made it clear that Phillips’ loan termination has not been discussed.

In his press conference following the game, the Northern Irishman speaks on Phillips’ loan termination: “Proper, proper nonsense.

“I learned quite a while ago in football that you can write something online and it circulates, gets picked up by a lot of different media outlets and then it becomes a story. It’s absolute nonsense.

“There’s been no conversations of the like and I think it’s a real, real shame.”

He added on Phillips’ performance in the defeat in west London: “He had a very good game.”
