Erik ten Hag, who was fired by Manchester United after leading the club to a 2-1 Premier League loss to West Ham United, has received sympathy from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
In addition to expressing sympathy for Ten Hag, Guardiola commended him for acting in the best possible manner while representing Manchester United. He said that he and his family would return stronger and that Ten Hag would return stronger.
Guardiola also admitted that a manager’s position is based on results, and when those results are subpar, they are constantly in danger of getting fired or staying on the team.
Guardiola said, “I’m so sorry for him. I have an incredible relationship, and I think he represents Man United at the highest level in terms of behavior.”
“I wish him all the best, he and his family, and he’s going to come back stronger, and he knows, I know, everybody knows that our job depends on results. When the results are not good enough, we are always on the verge of staying or being sacked,” he added.
