Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, has backed manager Erik ten Hag’s decision to sack him following the team’s Europa League 3–3 tie with FC Porto.
After the squad squandered a two-goal lead and Ten Hag’s future was questioned, Maguire made his statement. In extra time, Maguire ascended to the top of the pitch to head in the equaliser as the Red Devils faced yet another loss in Portugal.
Before heading to Aston Villa in three days, United has only managed two points from their two initial Europa League games.
After six years of playing for the team, Maguire thinks Ten Hag has the expertise and adaptability to handle pressure.
Maguire said to TNT Sports “To be honest, I’ve played for this club for six years so I know how it works.”
“When you go through a bad spell, players come under pressure but also the manager does.
“He’s experienced enough, he’s been in the game long enough, he’s been at this club long enough that I’m sure he’s learned how to deal with it.
“It’s part and parcel of playing for this club or managing this club. It’s part of the privilege that you have.”
