Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has stated that an external auditor has been appointed to review the party’s books.
In reaction to the charge made during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the party suspended Opara, saying she was influenced by “external forces” bent on ruining the LP.
In addition, Abure had threatened to sue Opara for defamation.
In a news conference on Thursday, Peter Obi responded to the development by saying, “we will account for everything now that we have an independent person who will tell us which way forward.”
“I’m not involved in the party’s management and the campaign accounts,” He added.
“The money people gave me during the election was paid into one account or the other which was properly managed because I knew there would be days like this. I assure you, we will account for everything.
“For the Party issue, we now have an independent person who will tell us which way forward, that’s why I’m calling on every member of the public with leads to where these millions and billions were paid to come forward.”
