Popular Nigerian musician Korede Bello has stated that fulfilling fan expectations takes precedence above Grammy recognition.
In response to a query on whether Nigerian musicians should rely on international venues like the Grammy Awards for recognition, Bello made this statement in his most recent interview.
In response, the artist stated that winning awards is not as important to him as making people happy via music.
He stated, “Awards are good, but knowing that your music makes people happy is a better feeling.
“When an artiste makes it to the nomination list of a prestigious award, I believe they are already winners. But I believe in rewards from commercial success over awards.
“It is where you work that you will eat. Part of artistes’ food is validation for our art. Validation for making great art is good. And that can be very inspirational for others to make better art.”
