Klinsmann, South Korea’s manager, has been fired.

South Korea fired national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann following their semi-final defeat from the Asian Cup and criticism of his leadership.

The National squad Committee, a KFA advisory group, recommended Klinsmann’s dismissal on Thursday, with KFA Technical Director Hwangbo Kwan citing “various reasons” to doubt his competence to manage the squad.

South Korea’s withdrawal from the Asian Cup this month, following a 2-0 loss to Jordan in the semi-finals, which prolonged their 64-year quest for a third trophy, prompted fans and lawmakers to demand for the 59-year-old’s ouster.
