The Kano State Government has ordered that the palace of Aminu Ado-Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, be demolished.
Haruna Dederi, the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, stated that the demolition will enable for the palace’s repair.
Dederi further stated that the Commissioner of Police has been instructed to remove Bayero from the Nasarawa GRA tiny castle, where he currently dwells.
At a news conference, Dederi stated that the administration had “concluded arrangements for the general reconstruction and renovation of the property including the demolishing and reconstruction of the dilapidated wall fence with immediate effect.”
The development comes just hours after the Federal High Court ruled on its substantive suit, confirming the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 but nullifying all of Governor Abba Yusuf’s acts since the law’s passing.
