Joe Cole believes Manchester United should have signed England striker Ivan Toney last summer, despite their interest in the player along with Chelsea and Arsenal.
Toney joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli from Brentford. Cole believes Toney is a talented player with a personality that can comfortably play for a top side and believes that if he were Manchester United, he would have made the move happen if he was in charge.
Cole said to Paddy Power “Manchester United got gun-shy in the transfer window,.”
“I think Ivan Toney is a cracking player, and he is exactly what Manchester United need.
“His personality can comfortably play for a top side.
“If I was Manchester United and had the job tomorrow, I would’ve said, “I need Ivan Toney” and I would’ve made it happen.”
