According to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), its goal is to free the Southeast from Nigerian rule and establish Biafra as an independent state. This declaration was made in reaction to a comment on its agitation that was credited to Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff. According to Emma Powerful, a spokesman for IPOB, the organisation was founded to support the peaceful departure of the “Igbophobic” Biafran people from Nigeria and to protect their interests.
Musa’s remarks drew criticism from Emma Powerful, who said that the Nigerian government and security services ought to approach the international community to enlighten them on the cause of IPOB. The Nigerian government will be unable to weaken IPOB’s determination to restore Biafra’s independence.
The Nigerian Army has attempted to subdue IPOB through intimidation and violence, but this tactic has not worked. The majority of Biafrans—more than 95%—support IPOB’s calls for Biafra independence. IPOB is backed by other ethnic groups in Nigeria as well. As asked by IPOB, the Nigerian Government and its General should set a date for a Biafra Referendum to validate their claims if they believe that IPOB is fighting for its own interests.
IPOB is a nonviolent liberation organisation that wants to free Biafra from Nigeria, which is referred to as “the zoo.” In Biafra Land, it is not and will never cause insecurity. Instead, IPOB has used ESN to stop the terrorist actions of bandits, other state-sponsored criminals, and Fulani terrorists. The insecurity in the Southeast Region is primarily the fault of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, and Nigerian DSS.
Emma Powerful issued a challenge to Musa and the Nigerian government, asking them to cease funding provocateurs in the Southeast Region and observe whether the insecurity persists. They urged General Christopher Gwabin Musa, his brother Nuhu Ribadu, and the administration of Alhaji Bola Tinubu, Nigeria, to study the IPOB’s Fundamental Objectives in order to comprehend the organization’s beliefs and make informed decisions.
The International Community and all Nigerians are aware that IPOB is a self-determination movement that seeks to reclaim the Biafran Nation’s stolen sovereignty.
