The American singer Taylor Swift declared herself to be “completely shocked” after being stabbed at a dance and yoga lesson in the UK that was centred around her songs.
The 9-year-old child passed away from her injuries in a regional hospital one day after the incident, according to confirmation from Merseyside Police on Tuesday. According to BBC News, two more girls, ages 6 and 7, perished in the attack on Monday in Southport, a seaside resort in northwest England.
Two adults and five additional youngsters were still in critical condition at the hospital.
A knife was found after the attack, and a 17-year-old man was detained on suspicion of both attempted and actual murder, according to a statement released by the police on Monday.
Swift responded on her Instagram story, saying that the tragedy of the attack was constantly “washing over” her.
She stated: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock.
“The loss of life and the innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.
“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
