Finidi George explains why the Super Eagles fell 2-0 to Mali

Finidi George, the Super Eagles’ acting head coach, has acknowledged that the squad was penalized for “a few mistakes” they committed in their match against Mali.

Tuesday night, Eric Chelle’s team defeated Nigeria 2-0 in an international friendly.

The Malians’ goals came from El Bilal Toure and Kamorou Dounmbia.

“I think it was just a few mistakes that cost us the match,” Finidi said to reporters after his team defeated Ghana in his maiden game as manager.

“It was not a bad game. Good intensity, we created a couple of chances, but didn’t score.

“And in a game like this, if you don’t score and you make mistakes, you will be punished.

“I’m happy with the way the boys played and it is quite positive.”
