Estevao Willian, who recently signed with Chelsea, had to leave the pitch in tears after getting hurt while playing for Palmeiras.
The 17-year-old has signed a contract to play for the Blues, where the Premier League team will pay €23 million in add-ons in addition to €34 million up front.
When the Brazilian turns 18, he will, nevertheless, sign with Chelsea the following year.
Chelsea, though, will be worried because Estevao’s most recent Palmeiras appearance ended abruptly.
The offensive midfielder was substituted during the second half of Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Vitoria.
Before making a comeback this weekend, Estevao had only recently healed from sprains to his left ankle and knee.
He now experienced a further setback as he rolled his left ankle throughout the match.
After receiving medical attention from Palmeiras’ crew, Estevao departed the pitch in a buggy.
