The players at Liverpool want Pep Lijnders, coach Jurgen Klopp’s assistant, to take over as manager instead of current favorite Xabi Alonso.
According to Alan Brazil and Dean Saunders of TalkSPORT, they have exclusive knowledge that the Reds team would prefer Lijnders.
They say they want to minimize any disruptions when Klopp departs.
When Klopp revealed in January that he would be departing Anfield after nine years, he stunned supporters and the football community.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach said that his decision to step down was motivated by tiredness.
Additionally, Klopp stated that he thinks the club is well-positioned for his replacement to take over and succeed right away.
