Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria: I worked hard and didn’t get a pity win

Chidimma Adetshina, the recently crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, has said that she didn’t receive a sympathy win.
Adetshina made this statement in response to the criticism she faced following her victory.
She made it apparent in an interview with Arise News on Friday that she put a lot of effort into becoming the pageant winner.

“A lot of people felt like it was a pity win. I don’t think so. I feel like I really worked so hard, coming from the South Africa journey. We spent like 10 weeks, camp, going through the whole journey.

“It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I really had the same experience with other contestants.” Adetshina reportedly had to withdraw from the beauty contest in South Africa in August 2024 because to accusations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother, according to News Men.
Following rejection due to her nationality and xenophobic backlash, Chidimma accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she ultimately won.
