Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, has stated that Diogo Jota will be out for “months”.
Jota was replaced after suffering a knee injury in the first half of their 4-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday.
After missing the most of December due to a muscular ailment, the Portugal international had only played seven Premier League games. During that period, he scored five goals and assisted three more.
Klopp has confirmed that Jota will not make an immediate comeback ahead of Liverpool’s game against Luton on Wednesday and the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this weekend.
Klopp said “With injuries, you have important days; day five, day 10 is then when you judge the situation again because nobody reacts in the same way and it depends on the pain level they still have. I couldn’t give you a time frame, even if I wanted to, so that’s how it is.”
