According to Football Insider, Birmingham has made an 11th-hour approach for Alfie May, a striker for Charlton, in an attempt to beat Huddersfield to the 30-year-old.
May, who just joined the Addicks from Cheltenham a year ago, scored 27 goals in 50 games for the team last season. However, manager Nathan Jones acknowledged this week that it might not be easy to keep May in South London.
“If keeping Alfie is the best thing for this football club then that is what will happen,” he told the South London Press.
“If for any reason Alfie May leaves this football club then we must have players that will come into the squad that make this football club significantly better.
“I have no financial pressure, or any pressure from the board or the club in any way to do anything.”
