According to The Times, Bayern Munich are increasingly set to break ways with Thomas Tuchel in the summer, and they want to go ahead of Liverpool in the race to hire Xabi Alonso as their next manager.
Bayern is five points behind Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga championship chase and suffered a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter on Wednesday.
The German champions have already began to consider their possibilities beyond Tuchel, with Alonso – who spent three years as a player in Munich – the main target.
Alonso might potentially be a possibility to replace Jurgen Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool in the summer, while Xavi is also leaving Barcelona at the conclusion of the season.
