Leon Bailey still has work to do, according to Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, despite the winger’s outstanding performance against Nottingham Forest.
The Jamaican international scored the game’s fourth goal in the second half after setting up Ollie Watkins’ initial goal with a brilliant wing play.
Although Bailey has fluctuated since leaving Bayer Leverkusen, his eight goals and seven assists so far this season represent his highest output to date.
Although Emery is happy with the 26-year-old’s acceptance of his approach, he still desires more, particularly when the youngster is not at home.
“With Leon Bailey, he is being more consistent, he is playing more consistently at home and there is still work to do away,” the Spaniard said.
“We are still trying with him to support him and try to set him in his best position and try to take a commitment defensively like we need. And he is doing.
“He is being positive, he is using his qualities and skill through the team with (Youri) Tielemans, Watkins, (Matty) Cash, John McGinn.”
“He is getting better and still has a lot of work to do but his progress is being positive and for us very important because he is scoring goals and getting assists.
“Still work to do and I will push him to be more consistent, even away.”
