Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta prevented forward Leandro Trossard from leaving the club amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.
At the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League team, considered moving Trossard on loan.
The transfer was stopped by Arteta, a “true fan” of Trossard, since Arsenal was expected to extend an offer to him.
Al-Ittihad put up a £4.1 million loan arrangement with a requirement to purchase Trossard for £21 million, giving Trossard a salary of £12.5 million annually—three times his present pay.
January 2023 saw the completion of Trossard’s £20 million transfer from Brighton to Arsenal.
