Kevin De Bruyne is a midfield player that Pep Guardiola would “love” to stay at Manchester City despite rumors that Saudi Arabian teams are interested in the player.
A transfer to the Saudi Pro League has been suggested for the 32-year-old, whose contract with Man City expires after the upcoming season.
“It’s a question for him, I’d love him to stay but I don’t know,” the Spaniard said.
“I listen to some links but I don’t know if there’s an offer, I don’t know if Saudi Arabia wants him.
“I would love him to stay here, but everyone is everyone.”
Guardiola also complimented Xabi Alonso, the manager target for Liverpool, who is leading Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and is having an undefeated season in all competitions.
Between 2014 and 2016, Alonso was a player for Bayern Munich under Guardiola.
About Alonso, he stated: “If you ask me about the job that he is doing, honestly, wow!
“The only team unbeaten in all competitions [this season], fighting all the way with Bayern Munich.
“Now they have the best time of the season, in the position they cannot win the Bundesliga but they can lose the Bundesliga but everybody thinks it’s done. Now is the most difficult thing, it’s not done until it’s done.
“But wow. Not just the way they play, they didn’t lose one game in the Europa League, Pokal [German Cup] or Bundesliga.
“I was incredibly fortunate to have him for two season as a player. He was such an intelligent player.”
