Chuba Akpom has said that he is not prepared to be Ajax’s backup for another season, the Eredivisie powerhouses.
The striker, who was born in Nigeria, teamed up with Middlesbrough, a Sky Bet Championship team that was the last European champion, last summer.
However, Akpom found it difficult to establish himself in the club’s first squad.
In 2023–2024, the 28-year-old played primarily as a substitute.
In 36 games for Ajax, the Arsenal Academy alumnus scored 15 goals and contributed three assists.
Akpom, who has been connected to a move back to England, stated that if things don’t change, he will have to search for work elsewhere.
