Wale Akinterinwa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Ondo State, has announced that he will accept the invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday.
According to News Men, the anti-graft agency invited Akinterinwa, who ran with fifteen other candidates for the party’s governorship ticket last Saturday, because of money theft.
Prior reports said that Akinterinwa was the subject of an EFCC investigation for allegedly mismanaging billions of Naira during the late Rotimi Akeredolu’s government as the Commissioner for Finance.
According to the story, he received an invitation from the EFCC a few weeks ago to discuss some claims, but he was allegedly “too busy” to accept.
Nonetheless, he stated, “Today, I will be honouring the invitation from the EFCC to shed more light on some issues that the commission wants clarification on,” in a post on his verified X handle on Thursday. “I have confidence in the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is done”.
