After learning that the twin children they had nurtured were not his, former Chelsea star Geremi Njitap cites two reasons for divorcing his wife

Geremi Njitap, a former football player for Chelsea and Cameroon, has disclosed the two reasons behind his divorce from his wife following the revelation that he was not the father of the two children she had claimed.

The Sun first revealed that the former Chelsea midfielder had filed for divorce from wife Laure after learning that her former spouse was the biological father of the twins, who were born in June 2008.

Four years later, Geremi and his wife were married after she asserted that the twins were his.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 45-year-old has now disclosed his wife’s two divorce-related grounds.

In his divorce application, he attributes his wife’s ‘lies’ and that the marriage was ‘not consummated’ as reasons for his request.

The divorce application reportedly reads: ‘If at the beginning of this union the wife was kind, she did not stop lying, presenting as his the twin children born on June 5, 2008 (four years before the marriage), everything that motivated their union.’

In regards to the second reason, it adds: ‘Although she was a complacent wife, she closed the marital bedroom forcing her husband to sleep in other rooms.’

According to reports, DNA testing proved that his wife’s ex-husband was the father of the two kids.

Geremi, who was previously a player for Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and Real Madrid, is reported to have gone through a severe mental breakdown after learning of the finding.

According to Cameroonian court records, the player’s spouse “destroyed the harmony” of their union “through her abject behaviour.” She has been accused of lying several times and claimed that “no children have been born from this union.”

Between 2003 to 2007, Geremi was a player with Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles.

In addition to winning the Africa Cup of Nations twice and an Olympic gold medal in 2000, Geremi made 118 appearances for Cameroon.
