Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. The game began with an easy start, with Ademola Lookman missing an opportunity to score. Wilfred Ndidi’s goal was saved by Atalanta winger, but Saturnin Alagbe’s stop in the half-hour mark prevented Samuel Chukwueze from scoring. Goalie Stanley Nwabali had to be alert to stop a free-kick by Steve Mounie five minutes before halftime.
Nigeria took the lead in the first half with a goal from Lookman. Nigeria had a chance in the second half but missed it. Benin Republic gained momentum with Mounie probing Nwabali from inside the box.
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen scored the second goal, followed by Wilfred Ndidi setting up Lookman for his second goal in the 82nd minute. The Super Eagles’ next match is scheduled for Tuesday against Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
