Ademola Lookman says he feels pressure wearing the Super Eagles jersey

Ademola Lookman, a Super Eagles and Atalanta winger, has acknowledged feeling the strain of putting on Nigeria’s green and white shirt.

Lookman transferred allegiances from England to Nigeria, and FIFA allowed him to play for Nigeria at the senior level in 2022, after representing England at the U-19, U-20, and U-21 levels.

The 26-year-old is one of Nigeria’s star players at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, having scored three goals and one assist.

His scoring performance made him the fourth Nigerian to score three or more goals in the knockout rounds of an AFCON competition. The other players include Odion Ighalo (2019), Austin Okocha (2004), and Rashidi Yekini (1994).

“I feel the pressure wearing this shirt,” the 26-year-old told News men.

“Every single time I put on the jersey, that’s just what comes with being a Nigerian and playing for the country, so I’m proud to do that, to take that responsibility.”
