Adeleke speaks of impending attacks on farms and schools

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has issued a warning regarding planned attacks on the state’s rural farming villages and institutions.

He revealed this in a statement made yesterday, March 12, in Osogbo, the state capital, by his spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed.

According to Adeleke, intelligence assessments that were provided to him showed that criminal groups had been purposefully organized to assault the state’s rural areas.

The governor expressed concern about the reports on behalf of his government and mentioned that the plotters intended to disrupt farming by kidnapping people and attacking remote agricultural villages.

According to Adeleke, kidnappings and attacks targeting schools are being carried out in an attempt to divert attention from the state’s multibillion-naira infrastructure plan and the Safe School Initiative.

He stated that preliminary directions had been sent to school officials to take preventative measures to improve the safety of kids and that the state Security Council had been called to a meeting.

Governor Adeleke said: “The Ministry of Education and all educational agencies have been ordered to review safety measures in Osun State schools in line with the Safe School Initiative.

“In specific terms, school principals and heads are expected to clear overgrown weeds in school environments and ensure close liaison with the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) to secure their school environments.”
