The EFCC, or Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has said that it is looking into 11 alleged oil thieves as well as the MT SAISNIL II vessel that the Nigerian Navy has detained.
This was verified in a statement released on Saturday by Mr. Dele Oyewole, the Commission’s spokesperson.
Oyewole stated that the Nigerian Navy, NNS Beecroft, Apapa, Lagos, turned over the suspects and vessel to the Commission.
He continued by saying that on February 7, 2024, navy authorities intercepted and detained the ship and her crew.
He said that in the Abo Oilfield in Ogogoro Community, Ondo State, the suspects were implicated in unlawful oil bunkering and Automatic Identification System (AIS) violations.
He said, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded by Commission’s operatives in its Lagos Command.”
