A metatarsal fracture is sustained by a new signing for Bayern Munich

Hiroki Ito, the summer acquisition of Bayern Munich, broke his metatarsal during Sunday’s preseason match against Duren.

After the match, Bayern stated that the Japanese centre defender will miss several weeks of play due to injury. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

According to the club, a scan was done right away following the game.

Max Eberl, a board member for sports: “It’s clearly a very severe blow. We’ll provide Hiroki with the finest assistance possible to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible, totally fit.”

For an estimated €30 million, the 25-year-old centre back moved from Stuttgart to Bayern during the summer transfer window.
