At the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Zoological Garden in Abeokuta, Nigeria, a male lion has murdered its handler.
The incident happened on Saturday at approximately 7:40 p.m. The incident at the Area Command Metro was reported by the OOPL Chief Security Officer (CSO). Tragically, the tragedy claimed the life of 35-year-old Babaji Daule, a trained lion handler.
Due to the handler’s carelessness, the lion was able to escape and attack him, killing him and leaving him with severe neck damage.
After being removed, the victim’s body was brought to the mortuary at Ijaye General Hospital in Abeokuta. To break free from its hold on the handler, the wild lion was shot.
