A father of two died in Ogun while watching a match between Nigeria and South Africa.

Mikail Osundiji, 43, died while watching the semi-final football match between Nigeria and the Republic of South Africa on Wednesday, February 7, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to accounts, the father of two died from shock while watching the game at a public football viewing center in Abeokuta’s Olomoore neighborhood. According to eyewitnesses, the victim died after the referee called off Nigeria’s second goal against South Africa, scored by Victor Osimhen.

Mrs. Adetunji Nofisat, the deceased’s elder sister, verified to news men that following the annulment of Nigeria’s second goal, Osundiji suddenly breathed out heavily, bent his head, and collapsed to the ground at the football watching area.

“That was when other people at the football viewing center rushed to him and took him to one of the private hospitals in Olomoore before the doctor on duty pronounced him dead”, the deceased’s sister said

However, Nofisat said that the deceased’s body was buried on Thursday afternoon according to Islamic traditions.

“We cannot take his corpse to his hometown, Okuku in Osun State because he still has a father, mother and two children who are of 12 and seven years of age”, she said
