Pop star Cyndi Lauper’s son arrested on gun and drugs possession in New York City

Declyn ‘Dex’ Lauper, the son of renowned music diva Cyndi Lauper, was arrested in New York City on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and narcotics.

Dex, 26, was arrested following a shooting in Harlem at 7:15 p.m. near 135 W. 112th St., police reported the New York Post, after a 24-year-old male was discovered wounded in the leg near an apartment building.

Authorities arrested Dex while investigating the shooting of the guy, who was later transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Dex was scheduled to be arraigned at Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday evening, according to the publication. 

It was unclear whether Dex’s detention was related to the shooting, officials informed the site.

ABC7 reported Thursday evening that Dex’s gun was loaded when he was arrested.
