Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has stated that he will have to wear a mask for the remainder of his career due to safety concerns.
Speaking to Brilla FM, Osimhen, who is now on national duty with the Super Eagles at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, said it is risky for him to play without his mask.
He said that even with the mask, he had a bleeding face after the opposing goalie smacked him in the face during his most recent encounter versus Cagliari.
“I must wear the mask for the rest of my career since I have screws that go through my jaws and face. I still have them right now,” he replied.
“In the previous match I played against Cagliari, I had blood on my face from heading the ball, and the goalie also hit my face, and there was blood even with the mask on.
“So it is really dangerous for me to play without using the mask, of course.”
