Wrestling: Oborodudu, Biogos, and others secure All Africa Games and Olympic qualification spots

Blessing Oborodudu, a former Olympic silver medalist, has gained a spot in the 2024 All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

Oborodudu beat Bayelsa State’s Tokere Appah in the 68kg division via pinfall.

Ebi Biogos of Bayelsa and Hannah Reuben of the Nigerian Army won the 72kg and 76kg categories, respectively.

In the male freestyle, Soso Tamarau of Delta and Ashton Mutuwa of Plateau upset the 97kg and 125kg weight classes.

Mutuwa defeated Rivers national champion Progress Benson to qualify for the African Games and the Olympics.

Similarly, Harrison Israel of Bayelsa dashed the aspirations of Ondo’s Jackson Oluwafemi, the national 86kg champion.

In the 65kg division, Stephen Simon of Bayelsa defeated previous national champion Amas Daniel of Bayelsa.

Enozumini Simon of Edo entered the winner’s circle in the 57kg category, securing his spot in the African Games.

The All African Games are slated to take place in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 24, 2024.

The first Olympic qualifiers for the year will be held from March 12 to 20th in Alexandria, Egypt.
