The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been ordered by the court to stop allocating funds to Rivers State

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been prevented from disbursing monthly budgetary allocations to the administration of Rivers State by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The court determined that it is unconstitutional for Governor Siminalayi Fubara to receive and distribute these allocations.

According to Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, Fubara’s acts were against the 1999 Constitution and his 2024 budget presentation was an insult to the Constitution.

The CBN, the Federation’s accountant general, Zenith Bank, and Access Bank were all ordered by the court to prevent Fubara from obtaining money from the Consolidated Revenue and Federation Account.
